ATMs Require Me to Walk out of my Way AND Pay a Fee: A Street Art Vendor Anecdote
This vintage Dylan poster caught my eye as I was walking home from the coffee shop this morning:
I stopped and chatted with the street vendor, asked him if he accepted credit card, and he said no. I spent some time trying to convince him to accept Venmo (#fullentrepreneur), but he said he would have to check it out when he got home. So, to get this poster, I had to walk two blocks, pay a $2 ATM fee (5% because I pulled out $40), and then walk two blocks back to get this poster. Hopefully, a lack of cash will no longer cripple my ability to make impulse purchases as more street merchants start to accept mobile payments. Obviously I am kind of a biased story teller here, but it seriously happens at least a few times a week that I skip a purchase or choose a different merchant when someone does not accept credit card. Anyway, even though I didn’t close a new Venmo client, I did get cool Dylan, Eastwood, and Sinatra posters.
