I Want “Read Flare” — Plugins for Sharing in Google Reader
This thread about adding follow buttons ( a la Tumblr ) to every site with a feed came across my dashboard today. I want follow / reblog / retweet on every site too, and this thread got me thinking about what more I want out of my social / feed dashboard.
For me, Google Reader seems like the best place to follow anything with a feed, esp if you start ignoring the unread counts and just use it as a stream. Reader is undergoing some intense rapid development. They’re adding loads of social / sharing tools, and making more prominent the calls to follow what your friends are reading and sharing. What would be awesome is if they developed a plugin architecture, like feed flare, but for readers rather than site publishers to customize the sharing tools they want.
Call it “Read Flare.” I would want links to Reblog on WordPress, Quote on Tumblr, Tweet the Author, Email to Friends, Share on Facebook, Share on Twitter in my Read Flare.

I wish there was a like button for the entire web, not just Tumblr and Facebook.
