KISS Recipe: Sauteed Broccoli
I have been eating lots of broccoli lately and have come up with a lazy, delicious, cheap, low calorie meal–this makes a great lunch if you’ve gotten some protein at breakfast or plan on eating a big steak dinner.
Ingredients:
1 bag frozen broccoli florets (I get these at Whole Foods for $1.99. You can keep bags in your freezer for a long time, avoiding one of the annoyances of cooking veggies at home–veggies go bad fast if you don’t use them!)
1 medium onion, diced
1 tbsp organic butter
2 cloves garlic, chopped
Melt the butter in a pan.
Throw in the onions, broccoli, and garlic.
Add salt and black pepper to taste.
Cook for 15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.
The entire bag of broccoli has only 120 calories! I ate the full bag yesterday for lunch, and it was a filling amount of food. The combo of garlic, salt, and butter give this a really nice flavor. Makes a great combo with KISS African Style Chicken.
